The Billericay School GCSE Exam Results 2024 - Year 11
- Best Progress for Year 11 in the school's history!
- Best Progress for Most Able ever!
- More students than ever gaining entry into our top performing Sixth Form.
- 51% of students achieved 5+ in both English and Maths, 72% of students achieved a 4+ in both English and Maths, both significantly above national averages.
- 76% of all qualifications graded at 4+, 8% above national average.
- 25% of all qualifications graded at 7+, 4% above national average.
- 94 of the ‘Gold Standard’ Grade 9 awarded to our students.
- Grade 9s or Distinction Stars awarded in 20 different subjects.
- Above national progress in 16 subjects including; Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Art, History, Geography, Music, Sport and Statistics.
- 51% of students entered for, and completed, the EBacc suite of qualifications.
Our students have seen phenomenal results this year and our school has achieved the best GCSE results ever! In years which have seen challenge after challenge we have still seen our students achieve fantastically and in many cases way above local and national averages. This year we have seen our Most Able achieve way above national averages with many in the top 1% in the UK. With so many achieving the ‘door-opening grades’ of passes in English, Mathematics and Science, we know many of our students will gain entry into their first choice destination. And, with so many achieving the top gold standard 7-9 grades, we know that our Sixth Form will continue to be amongst the very best as they begin their journeys towards University and beyond with us.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our parents who have supported their children and our school to make an outstanding difference to the future chances of our young people.

Our school is so proud of our fantastic students. Despite many unprecedented challenges across their years of GCSE study, they have proved their resilience and success in a most astonishing way to produce some of the best GCSE results the school has ever seen. I would also pay tribute to the support and dedication of the staff body and our wonderful parent community who have worked with us to achieve success. Within the overall cohort success there have been some incredible individual performances. We celebrate with every student that has made the grade for their place in our sixth form or to progress to their next step in education or training elsewhere. Our students have such bright futures ahead of them.
Here our some of our top achievers this year, most of whom will be staying to study in our Sixth Form:
- Kian Makanji – Ten grade 9s! Kian scored a full suite of the top grade across every subject, this is an incredibly amazing feat and incredibly difficult to achieve!
- Emily Lane – Seven grade 9s, one Distinction Star and a grade 7 see’s Emily in the Top 1% in the UK, outstanding!
- Sophie Lane – Two grade 9s, six grade 8s and a grade 7. Sophie has made fantastic progress across all her GCSEs.
- Andrew Banks – Six grade 9s, two grade 8s and one Distinction Star means Andrew also sits in the top 1%, superb.
- Joe Lewis – Six grade 9s, two grade 8s and a grade 7. Joe has made excellent progress during his time at The Billericay School, entering the Top 1% bracket!
- Anna Deri – Five grade 9s, two grade 8s, a grade 7 and a grade 6, Anna has performed outstandingly.
- Zak Alam – A massive well done securing a stunning five grade 9s, one grade 8, two grade 7s and a Distinction.
- Oliver Cuthbert – Three grade 9s, one Distinction Star, three grade 8s, a grade 7 and a grade 6, phenomenal grades!
- Ira Balanoiu – Three grade 9s, five grade 8s and a grade 6. Ira has made fantastic progress throughout her time at The Billericay School.
- Janice Ayittah – Two grade 9s, five grade 8s and a grade 6, a fabulous set of results.

The Billericay School Sixth Form Exam Results 2024 - Year 13
2024 Sixth Form Results Headlines
- 57 grades at the Gold Standard A* (or Distinction* for Vocational qualifications)
- 30 different students achieved the gold standard A* (or Distinction*) grade in at least one subject
- 99.7% A*-E at A Level
- 100% A*-C in 5 different subjects (Engineering, Finance, Health and Social Care, Further Maths, EPQ)
- 95% A*-B in Film Studies
- Over 68% of Maths and Further Maths A Level grades were A*-B
- Over 45% of students gained at least one A or A*
- 68% of students gained at least one A*-B graded A Level
- 26% of students achieved at least 3 A*-B grades at A Level
- Over one fifth of all A Levels were graded A* or A
We are hugely proud of what our students have achieved during their time at The Billericay Sixth Form and we look forward to seeing what so many will achieve in the coming years. We have many future entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists, lawyers, medical and creative professionals. University destinations included Cambridge University, King’s College London, Durham, Exeter, Loughborough and Birmingham. The next generation is one we are rightly proud of.

‘These results represent the culmination of the hard work and resilience of our wonderful student community and the outstanding support that they have received from our dedicated staff body. This cohort of students were the first cohort, post Covid, that sat a full suite of exams under ‘normal’ conditions. We are very proud of their resilience and they have excelled themselves. The results this year compare very well with previous and are the best results for a cohort sitting a full suite of public examinations for six years. There are a number of incredible individual performances and our students have gained places at some of the most prestigious universities and employers as a result of their hard work and dedication. Our students now have exceptional futures ahead of them. These results could not be achieved without the constant support and encouragement of our parental community as well as from our dedicated governing body.

I am so very proud of our Year 13 students who have worked so incredibly hard to achieve results which will see so very many of them securing their first choice next destination, whether that be university, degree apprenticeships or their first steps on their career ladder. I cannot wait to see them move into the world of work and make a difference in so many ways. I could not be prouder of them all.

- James Dunn: A* in Mathematics, A in Biology, Chemistry and Further Mathematics. Jamie has secured a place reading Natural Sciences at University of Nottingham.

Madison Bailey: Having achieved an A* in Film Studies, A in English Literature and Psychology, with EPQ grade A*. Madison will now read English and Film Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Evie Fleming: A* in History, A in Art and Politics and will read Therapeutic Radiography at London South Bank University.

Ellie Browring: A* in Sociology, A in English Literature and Film Studies and will read Criminology and Sociology at University of Warwick.

Ben Rodgers: A* in Mathematics, A in Computer Science and Economics, with EPQ grade A and AS Further Mathematics grade A has achieved a place at University of Bath to read Economics at University of Warwick.

Josh Hayward: Is delighted to achieve an A* in Biology and Chemistry and an A in Mathematics. He will read Chemistry at University of Bristol.

Kayleigh Saville: Will read Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Cambridge securing an A* in Psychology and Sociology, B in History, with EPQ grade A.

Hannah Camilleri: A* in Film Studies and Sociology, B in English Literature will read English Literature and Film at University of Birmingham.

Jorge Bateman-Kitson: A* in Economics, A in Mathematics and Physics and has succeeded in achieving a place to read Physics with a year studying abroad at University of Exeter.

Emily O’Dwyer: Achieved a suite of three Grade A’s in Art, Film Studies and Sociology and will start an apprenticeship with First Intuition L6 Digital Marketing.
